5 November 1951 SUBJECT: Operational Report of OPERATION DESERT ROCK TO: Commanding Officer On 30 Sep 51, which was the end of the third week, all work was proceeding at a very rapid rate. New work orders for additional signs, electrical work, carpenter work, and numerous other construction jobs were received.
Company "A" was given orders to proceed to the Forward Area, establish a Command post, and immediately begin construction of emplacements as ordered by the Commanding General, III Corps. The move was accomplished on 26 Sep 51 and construction commenced immediately. All work accomplished by Co "A" is covered in Annex 1 of this report.
Among the work orders received during the week were those for the construction of theater seats, hospital area, layout of the tactical area, chapel benches, company streets in the entire camp area, additional signs, and many miscellaneous items for the theatre, the administration sections of III Corps and the Visitors area. The 90th Engr Wtr Sply Co was ordered to prepare a camp water point; this water point to be of sufficient capacity to adequately meet the needs of Camp Desert Rock, construction on all of the above named jobs commenced immediately.
