ORGANIZATION

Station

On 1 January 1951, the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, having been ordered from National Guard status in North Dakota to active military status 1 September of the preceding year. Although the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion moved to Camp Desert Rock, Nevada for the period September to December this assignment was a temporary duty, with Fort Lewis continuing to be the home station of the battalion.
