SUBJECT: Command Report

On 10 September 1951 the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion proceded to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the purpose of participating in Exercise Desert Rock. The mission was to establish, build and maintain Camp Desert Rock and construct field fortifications at the Atomic Test Sites. Operational Report of Excersise Desert Rock is included with this Command Report as Annex 1. Upon completion of Exercise Desert Rock on 6 November 1951, Operation Jangle was placed into effect and the 231st Enginner Combat Battalion continued to support Camp Desert Rock while additional Atomic tests were made. Upon completion of Operation Jangle the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion returned to home station at Fort Lewis, Washington, arriving 10 December 1951.
