SUBJECT: Operational Report of OPERATION DESERT ROCK

354th Engineer Combat Group
Ft Lewis, Washington

The morning of 30 October 51 the entire Battalion moved out by motor convoy for the Forward Area. After witnessing the nuclear detonation and receiving an interesting dissertation on atomic energy the Battalion returned to Camp Desert Rock, arriving here about 0930 hours. The rest of the day was utilized in preparing for the final exercise which were to take place two days later.
